Our staff advises on academic, personal and career issues and helps you develop strategies for success, such as setting goals, managing time, developing good study habits and making use of community and college resources.

College Transfer Planning & University Visits

We help you create an Education Plan to complete your degree & prepare for transfer to a 4-year school. We will provide you with transfer resources and assistance with admissions applications & personal statements. We also provide students with opportunities to visit four year colleges and universities.

Cultural and Social Activities

TRIO SSS sponsors events, such as excursions to see theatre performances & to visit local universities, as well as receptions with peer mentors, alumni, staff and faculty.

Financial Literacy Education

Knowing how to manage your money, reduce debt, make sound choices about student loans, understand credit scores and history, and protect against identity theft will help you make better financial decisions.

Faculty Conferences and Mid-term Progress Reports

One key to academic success is taking charge of your education by talking to your instructors and monitoring your progress. The TRIO SSS program helps you develop this success strategically through our program specific Progress Report conferences.

Financial Aid & Scholarship Assistance

TRIO SSS offers assistance with the financial aid application (FAFSA), and can help you locate and apply for scholarships. Students who participate in our program may be eligible for our TRIO Scholarship.

Student Mentors

Student mentors are 2nd year students who can help you navigate the campus & college life. Consult with a mentor about study & time management strategies, for encouragement & tips to stay motivated, and to learn from their experiences.

Tutoring / Collaborative Learning and Instruction Center (CLIC)

Drop-in tutoring is available to TRIO SSS participants in the Collaborative Learning and Instruction Center (CLIC), located in Robert Smith Building, Room 66. CLIC is a friendly space where you can get help with your studies. Our experienced tutors can help you excel in your Math, English, and Science classes.

Workshops & Learning Opportunities

A variety of free workshops are offered every quarter. Topics include: scholarship opportunities, college admissions, money management, community resources and effective research techniques.
