Tuition & Fees

Choosing a community college like South Seattle College is a sound financial decision.  With lower tuition and fees compared to four-year state and private institutions, you can save thousands over the course of your education.  Below you will find general information and tuition and fee tables.  

General Information

  • Tuition and most fees are set by the Washington State Legislature. Tuition and fee rates are subject to change.
  • Tuition Due Date
  • Payment Policy and Refund Schedule
  • Payment options and instructions.
  • Returned Checks: A handling fee of $30.75 is charged for any returned checks.
  • Pursuant to state law (RCW 28B.10.293 and RCW 19.16.500) any debts to the college will be increased by costs and expenses incurred in the collection of such debts.
  • The Non-Resident, Waiver Eligible tuition is available to out-of-state permanent residents or citizens of the United States as part of the tuition reduction announced in Fall 2015. International students and other non-residents will continue to pay the Non-Resident/International tuition rate.   • Student Campus Enhancement Fee: In Spring 2015, students voted and approved a self-imposed fee for Campus Enhancement to fund, as a first project, the building of a Wellness Center. This quarterly fee was approved at $9 per credit, up to 10 credits, and will be included beginning with Winter quarter 2016 tuition calculations. Learn More.
  • The Instructional Technology Fee covers costs associated with administration and support of instructional technology including the college’s Learning Management System and Video Recording Software. Fee is charged per quarter per credit. Students enrolled in less than 4 credits, non-credit classes, ABL/ESL courses are exempt. $4.50/Credit 
  • Services & Activities Fees Information: S&A Fees are student fees collected for co-curricular, extracurricular and related student programs and activities. They are assessed as follows:
    • Credits 1-10: $12.71 per credit
    • Incremental credits 11-18: $7.36 per credit

  • receive a one-time $ 45 reimbursement each quarter on a ferry pass or Pierce/Snohomish Transit pass from the Campus Transportation Office.

  • receive a one-time $ 45 reimbursement each quarter on a ferry pass or Pierce/Snohomish Transit pass.
