Metal fabrication and welding are stock tools of many trades. In U.S. industry, the demand for trained weld fabricators continues to rise in the small shop setting.
Careers
The range of job opportunities and skill needs is diverse, including:
- Blueprint reading
- Layout, cutting and fitting parts
- Tack and production welding
- Finishing and material handling.
- Weld fabricators
- Shop supervisors
- Estimators and shop owners
Program Information
Training includes all facets of welding and fabrication operations including planning operation sequence, applying knowledge of geometry, heat effects and metal properties, positioning, fitting, welding and material handling. Computer training is included so that WFT graduates can program and operate state-of-the-art computer-controlled machinery. Special projects are also offered for the journey-level weld fabricator desiring to update skills and certification.
