Prerequisites   (Information updated July 30, 2007)
  • Current unencumbered LPN License in the state of Washington.
  • A student does not have to take an assessment test if he or she has submitted an official transcript to SSCC listing college-level English 101 and Math 107 with grades of 2.0 or higher. (Read about transferring credits and transcript evaluation.)
  • For information about the testing schedule for pre-requisite classes, see the Schedule of Tests. To schedule a test date, use this online form or call (206) 764-5349.

Complete the Following Academic Pre-requisite Nursing Requirements

  • The minimum acceptable grade for any LPN Coursework or academic pre-requisite course is 2.0
  • The minimum cumulative GPA to be awarded the Certificate in Practical Nursing is 2.0
  • Students may enroll and take these courses at South (see Steps to Enroll)

ALL courses must be completed before starting the RN program. Please note that a LPN license with the State of Washington is also required.

Adjunct English as a Second Language courses are available for many of the pre-requisites. Contact the ESL Transition Services Coordinator at 206-768-6747 for information.
