South Seattle Community College will phase out our Cosmetology Program, and will stop accepting new students as of summer
quarter 2007. 

We will ensure that all students now in the program will be able to complete their certificate or degree, either at South or a nearby college. 

The decision was made after deliberations with faculty, staff and industry representatives.  It is in response to declining student interest and changing economic conditions in the cosmetology field.   Current student and industry needs can be met at other nearby two-year colleges – Seattle Vocational Institute, Renton Technical College, and Shoreline Community College.

The Cosmetology Program served our community well for many years, but the challenging economy requires difficult decisions.
