The AAS, AAS-T Degrees and Certificates

South offers career-focused professional technical programs designed to get people the education they need to secure good paying jobs in today’s skill-focused economy. With two-year Associate of Applied Science degrees and short-term certificate options, we have a program to match your skills and passions!

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees and one-year certificates are designed for individuals who want to prepare for immediate employment.

Associates of Applied Science Transfer (AAST) degrees are designed for students to learn technical skills for employment, but may also want to transfer to a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) or to a four-year institution. Transferability of courses will be contingent on the decision of each individual institution. Students pursuing AAST degrees take the following transferable courses: ENGL 101, MATH 107, PSYC 100 and transferrable electives.

Short-Term Training programs are designed for students who wish to return to the workforce quickly, with specific job skills. Most programs are 12 weeks or less in length, with some being six-months long. South Seattle College has partnerships with a number of organizations who have an interest in hiring people trained in our programs. These programs are funded by the State of Washington and students must be deemed eligible to enroll. Assessment testing will be required prior to enrollment in classes at a Start Next Quarter orientation.

Please go to www.startnextquarter.org to see if you are eligible and sign up for an orientation today. To learn more about funding for these programs, please visit worker retraining.
