Nutrition

Human nutrition is the study of the relationship of nutrition to growth, development, chronic disease, and health. Students will learn the sources, functions, interrelationships, and requirements of nutrients. Students will also examine the impact of nutrition and a healthy lifestyle during all phases of the life cycle.

Description

South offers the first two years of general education needed for a four-year degree in Nutrition. Students can also take these courses to fulfill the non-lab science requirement for an A.A. degree, to fulfill general educational requirements, for personal enrichment, or to prepare for future study in this field. Human Nutrition is a co- or prerequisite for most nursing degree programs and transfers directly to the University of Washington.

Degree Information

Students planning to major in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science or Nutritional Sciences will most likely complete the Associate of Science - Track 1 degree.
