Students wishing to learn more about the history, experience and cultures of Asian Americans and/or Pacific Islanders have the opportunity to do this at South, a Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI).

Description

South offers the first two years of general education required for a four-year degree in API Studies or Ethnic Studies. Courses may also be taken to fulfill general education requirements or for personal enrichment. Students will take courses from a wide variety of disciplines that focus on the API experience. Sample API Studies Emphasis Courses include:

  • ANTH 227: Pacific Island Cultures
  • ART 255: History of the Art of Asia
  • ENGL 260: Asian American Literature
  • HIST 251: History of China
  • HUM 120: Introduction to Asian Cinema
  • MUSC 110: Introduction to World Music
  • REL 151: Introduction to Eastern Religions

Degree Information

Students wishing to transfer to a four-year university to major in API Studies or Ethnic Studies will need to complete either the Associate of Arts or the A.A. - API Studies degree.
