Tuesday Tips from South Seattle's Advising Team

Connecting with your fellow classmates outside of the classroom, follow South Seattle College on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter! Tips on how to build your South network of friends and professional contacts:

  • Get to know your instructors, they are the best people to ask for letters of recommendation or to connect you with an employer for a job.
  • Are you a STEM major? STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math. If you are majoring in astronomy, biology, botany, chemistry, computer science, engineering, geology, math, oceanography, physics or a related field and plan on transferring to a university, then you are a STEM major. Apply for Ready! Set! Transfer! (RST) and get connected with a faculty member and participate in RST Academy activities!
  • Create a LinkedIn profile and connect with your classmates and instructors.
  • Use your Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts like a marketing tool to showcase your academic and professional skills.
  • Get to know your classmates these last few weeks, form a study group or become friends outside of the classroom. Check out the Arboretum, Art Gallery, Computer Labs, and Food Court.

Word of the Week: Georgetown Campus - One of South Seattle College's campuses that houses the Puget Sound Industrial Excellence Center, Apprentice and Education Center and the Washington State Labor Education and Research Center.
