Tuesday Tips for February 20, 2018

Office 365 Now Free for South Students

Did you know students who engage in on-campus activities, like joining an interest club or participating in co-curricular events like workshops and lectures, are more likely to be successful? Studies show that when students are actively engaged at school, their persistence and academic progress is better. Here are tips on ways to get involved.

  • Check-out the Jerry Brockey Student Center in JMB to learn more about Student Life and services available to you. Just to name a few, you will find the Center for Equity, Inclusion and Diversity (formerly known as Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion), Game Room and more!
  • Get involved in campus life by joining an SSC student club! You'll make new friends and gain valuable organizing, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Need a place to chill? Come to the Game Room, JMB 151. The Game Room has a television, pool tables, ping pong, and sports equipment for check-out.
  • Southeast Asian Association is hosting the annual Lunar New Year Event on Tuesday February 20 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. in JMB A&B! There will be free food, performances, games and more representing Mongolia, China, Vietnam, and Korean heritage and culture.
  • Stressed out? Do some self-care and join us for the Men of Color Game Night from 1:00-2:30 p.m. (Cascade Hall 107 – 1st floor) on February 21. There will be cards, dominoes and board games! Open to all! Come hear the student voices and meet staff/faculty!
  • Extra tip: The last day to withdraw from classes with no refund is February 23. Check out the Academic Calendar here for other important dates. Book an appointment with the Financial Aid Department to see how withdrawing from classes would impact your funding.

Word of the Week: United Student Association, USA - The official student government of SSC. This body consists of elected officers who represent student concerns to the college administration. This is another great way to get involved on campus!
