Tuesday Tips from South Seattle's Advising Team

Welcome to Advising & Counseling at South!

We are excited to work with you and create a plan to reach your goals! Note: October 13 is the last day to withdraw with 50% refund.

Students often ask us “What is the difference between an Advisor and a Counselor?” Great question! Here’s our answer:

  • Advisors are professional staff members trained to help you with placement, educational planning, course selection, degree completion, transfer to a four-year university and to provide referrals to other departments on campus who can help you reach your goals.
  • Counselors are faculty members who are trained to help with educational, personal, and career exploration and counseling. They work with students on goal setting, math and test phobia, exploring majors and careers, personal issues and concerns, and much, much, more.
