Many of our international students enroll in the following Professional & Technical Programs:
Aviation Maintenance Technology
At South Seattle College we train our student technicians in an industry-like setting on our main campus and in a hangar facility at King County Airport (Boeing Field). Students learn how to keep aircraft in peak operating condition by performing maintenance and inspections required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Our classes consist of a hands-on approach and focus on experiential learning. Their small size ensures personalized one-on-one education from our experienced instructors.
The Program takes full 8 quarters to complete. Students have the following degree options:
- A.A.S. – Associate of Applied Science
- A.A.S. – T - Associate of Applied Science Transfer.
- Airframe Certificate
- Powerplant Certificate
- Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
We highly recommend that students complete the A.A.S –T degree along with both the Airframe and Powerplant certificates. Having all three provides students with a greater employment opportunities and the ability to take advantage of technical transfer agreements that South has with four-year institutions, such as Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and Central Washington University.
The Culinary Arts Program at South Seattle College is consistently ranked among the top training programs in the country by the National Restaurant Association. Our students have won awards at various state and national competitions. We work closely with the industry leaders to develop program content and students receive their hands-on training in our Food Court with a cafeteria, deli and grill, a casual dining café in Café Alki, a formal dining room in Alhadeff Grill and a retail pastry shop Bernie’s Place.
Students are trained in the following areas:
- Pastry and Specialty Baking
- Wine Technology
This program is a first in Western Washington and complements our well regarded and award winning Culinary Arts program. We offer three certificate programs. Eventually these options will be expanded to offer degree programs with transferable credits to four-year institutions.
The wine classes are designed to educate and inform individually, for students who are just getting a start in the wine industry or professionals who need information on current trends and to enhance their skills. We offer one class or a series of classes towards attaining a certificate in winemaking, wine marketing and sales, or food and wine pairing.
Begin your career in the wine industry, expand your marketable skills as a professional in the wine or hospitality industry, or deepen your knowledge of wine with one of our certificates.
