International Student Scholarships

To promote student-success at South Seattle College, The Center for International Education offers quarterly scholarships to eligible applicants in 2 categories: Academic Scholarship & Intensive English Program Scholarship. These scholarships are competitive and recognize high achieving students around the world.   These awards celebrate and honor students with impressive academic achievements and extended involvement in campus and community organizations.

Academic Scholarship

(Fall & Spring Quarters)


$2,500 x 1 student

$1,000 x 5 students

 

  • Current F-1 students enrolled in full time classes (100 level or above) at South Seattle College
  • Must have completed at least 30 college credits at South by the time scholarship award begins
  • Have at least 2 full quarters remaining until graduation
  • Minimum cumulative college level GPA 3.5.
  • Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible

Intensive English Program (IEP) Scholarship

(Quarterly)

 

$500 x 2 students

$250 x 4 students

  • Current F-1 students enrolled in full time in the IEP
  • Have at least one quarter completed at South IEP
  • Minimum cumulative IEP GPA 3.0
  • Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible

 

Important notes for students looking at applying for the Center for International Education Scholarships:

  • Students must maintain F-1 student visa status
  • Students in contract programs are not eligible
  • Scholarship funds are tuition waivers (no cash refund)

Scholarship applications are always available at The Center for International Education (located at WWB 121). In order for applications to be considered complete, students must submit the following items:

  1. Application form: Be sure to complete all sections and include a copy of class registration
  2. Personal Statement: 250-300 words statement tailoring this subject “Regarding your program of study and how attending South will contribute to your academic and career goals.”
  3. Copies of  your academic transcripts
  4. Academic Scholarships: 2 recommendation forms from their instructors and/or organization leaders/advisors that have a good sense of the students’ characters.
  5. IEP Scholarships: 2 recommendation forms from instructors

Ø If you are our current/returning students, you should receive an email each quarter when the scholarship process starts. Feel free to come by The Center for International Education (CIE) anytime and ask about scholarship deadlines & time lines. If you apply for a Center for International Education Scholarship, you should receive an award notice two weeks after the application deadline
