Since 1980, the South Seattle College Foundation has been invested in student success at South. During these years, the Foundation has awarded thousands of scholarships to deserving students, helping them achieve their academic goals and progress toward stable and fulfilling careers.
Students may apply for a South Seattle College Foundation scholarship twice each year, during the fall and winter quarter scholarship application periods. Scholarships are awarded based on factors such as academic merit, financial need, program of study and school and community involvement, and provide between one and three quarters of prepaid tuition.
To apply, students must complete the online application, which requires information about the student's financial situation, work and school history, a personal statement and two recommendations, with at least one from a South instructor or staff member.
The scholarship application period for Winter quarter of 2017 is January 3rd - January 30th. Students awarded scholarships in this round may apply them as soon as Spring quarter, or hold them until the Summer or Fall. Please check this website during the Fall quarter application period for access to the online application.

Students who are applying for or have already been accepted to the Bachelor of Applied Science, four-year Hospitality Management Program, Sustainable Building Science Technology or Professional Technical Teacher Education, are eligible to apply for a Foundation Scholarship. Scholarship awards are in the form of pre-paid tuition which are applied to the student’s account. To apply, students must complete the online application during the Winter quarter application period
South Seattle College students who are temporarily unable to pay for day care may be eligible for a one-time only, emergency Child Care grant. To apply, contact Lisa Sever, Manager of Day Care Operations, at (206) 934-5348.
Emergency Fund awards are made by a committee of college representatives, coordinated through Student Services. Should you need help on an emergency basis for tuition, fees and/or textbooks, please download the emergency funds application and make an appointment with one of the committee members listed on the application.
The South Seattle College Foundation offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors to attend South. The application period for high school students will be in February-March of 2017. Students interested in applying may download the application.
Each quarter (fall, winter and spring), faculty may apply for a South Seattle College Foundation faculty development grant to pay for professional development activities such as conferences and workshops. South Seattle College strives to offer training on the same state-of-the-art equipment currently used in business and industry. Gifts can be made to insure students receive the skills to be valuable employees in the "new workforce".
