The United Student Association, USA, is the official student government of South. This body consists of student-elected officers who represent student concerns to the college administration. This year’s class of representatives mirrors South’s ethnic and academic diversity.
President Ariel Garcia comes to South from Chief Sealth International High School and is a 13th Year Scholarship recipient. Garcia plans on graduating from South with an Associate of Arts transfer degree and will continue his studies to earn a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering.
Jacqueline Zhang serves the campus as a Community Service Officer. Zhang, who is fluent in both English and Chinese, is also a member of South’s Business club and is majoring in Business.
Communications Officer, Kendall Walker, is a member of the TRiO Student Success Services and will receive an Associate of Science transfer degree from South. One-day, she hopes to open her own business.
The Treasurer position is filled by psychology-student Nicole Harris. After graduating from South, she plans on continuing her academic studies in pursuit of a Ph.D. in psychology.
A member of the South’s Honor Society, Jaden Phan was elected the Issues and Concerns Officer. A bi-lingual (Vietnamese and English) student he plans on receiving his degree from South in Business.
A pre-pharmacy major, Ha Truong serves as the Public Relations Officer. A bi-lingual speaker, Vietnamese and English, Truong has made South’s Honor Roll for three quarters. After South, Truong plans to continue her education at a University and hopes to be a pharmacist.
