Welcome to Disability Support

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your academic experience. We want you to feel comfortable with the procedures involved in gaining accommodations for your disability, and to answer any questions you might have. South Seattle Community College is committed to serving its student population, including those students with special needs. The college is dedicated to making your campus experience a rewarding one.

The Disability Support Services office will help you identify campus resources as well as community based services. This office works with all other campus services to help handle situations that might interfere with academic success. Interviews and evaluation can help you develop strategies to be an active participant in your own academic or vocational program. One of the most voiced concerns is a reluctance to declare a disability in order to receive accommodations. Everyone needs certain accommodations in life. If you need extra time on a test, a note taker, an interpreter, tutor, or any other service to accommodate your particular disability you need not be concerned. You are simply receiving assistance that will give you the same chance to succeed as every other student on campus. If you reject an accommodation that you truly need you are putting yourself at a disadvantage, and college is already challenging enough!

Welcome! We are eager to assist you in your educational pursuits.
