Requesting Services:

To receive services, students complete an intake appointment in the DS office and provide documentation of disability.  Individualized academic adjustments will then be determined.  Please note some services may require 6 weeks or more to arrange.  Contact the DS office as early as possible in your educational planning to avoid delays in service.

DS also arranges accommodations (such as sign language interpreters) for College sponsored programs and events. One week notice is requested.

Authority and Confidentiality

The President of South Seattle College has assigned authority to the Office of Disability Services for reviewing student documentation and determining what, if any, accommodations will be provided by the College to ensure equal access for qualified students.

All contact information and documentation is maintained in confidential files in the DS office for 5 years, after which time it is destroyed.  Information from the file may be released with written permission from the student, or without written permission to the following:  College officials with legitimate educational interest, specified officials for audit purposes, person or entity designated by a subpoena, appropriate officials in cases of health and safety emergencies, or a legal guardian.
