Often referred to as the “best kept secret in west Seattle,” the 6 acre arboretum was originally built to serve as an outdoor classroom for students in the Landscape Horticulture Program. Since then, the arboretum has also become a serene place for community members to visit and a preferred venue for weddings and parties alike.
The Arboretum at South Seattle College offers many different and affordable venues, perfect for a wedding ceremony, reception or other event! Some of the most popular areas of the arboretum are the entry garden, lined with exposed aggregate pathways and large patches of grass. The sensory garden, reflection pool area, with a large pool and tranquil, rock fountain and beautiful gold fish. The gazebo, which was build by local residents over 20 years ago, features a beautiful view of the downtown Seattle skyline on a sunny day.
Ideal for a wedding of approximately 100 guests. Lined with exposed aggregated pathways and large patches of grass. Bordered by several plantings.

As you walk the path to the Helen Sutton Rose Garden, the wonderful fragrance of roses fills the air. Ideal location for a photo opportunity.
Coenosium Rock Garden
This unique garden features a beautiful back drop of dwarf conifers and the tranquil sound of a trickling stream.
The rustic gazebo, nestled among beautiful flowering plants and evergreens, offers a beautiful view of the Seattle skyline on a sunny day. This space is perfect for an intimate reception.
Milton Sutton Dwarf Conifer Garden
The Milton Sutton Dwarf Conifer Garden features another large selection of unusual conifers. Many of these evergreen shrubs or trees are quite small but decades old.
