Online classes or eLearning (as we call it at South) require some extra effort on the part of the student. The links below, provided by our eLearning Department, will help guide your online course experience.
For New Students to eLearning
Will online classes work for you?
If you have never taken an online class, visit our eLearning page at: http://sites.southseattle.edu/online/getting-started and take the “Is eLearning for me?” quiz.
Do you have the technology and skills?
After determining if an online class will work for you, you want to make sure you have all the required technology and skills to be successful in the course: http://sites.southseattle.edu/online/reqskillstech
What should I expect? How do I prepare?
In addition to the required technology and skills, you need to know what to expect in an online class!
Our eLearning department has put together a lot of tips and hints for how to be a successful online student: http://sites.southseattle.edu/online/about
Registering for an online course
When you are ready to register for an online class, please visit: http://sites.southseattle.edu/online/
You will need permission to enroll in any course, including an online course. You do not have to come in to meet with an advisor, we will “meet” with you over email or phone!
If you meet the prerequisites for the course(s) you wish to take, you will register for an online class just like you do for an in-person class, through Student Online Services (link), or if you need help picking your classes, by coming in to meet with an advisor or counselor.
If you do not meet the prerequisites, you will need to work with the eLearning office or contact advising for assistance. You can reach advising via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Need some help figuring it all out?
We are happy to help! If you haven’t found the answer to your question on our website or the eLearning website, be sure to ask!
or email an advisor at email@example.com
