Purpose

The 13th Year Promise Scholarship is now in its fifth year and has provided the opportunity to nearly 300 graduates from Chief Sealth and Cleveland High Schools to attend South Seattle College tuition-free for their first year of college. As of 2011, the program has expanded to include graduating seniors from Chief Sealth International High School as well as the Readiness Academy component which supports student in their transition from high school to college. The 13th Year Promise Scholarship is now available to Rainier Beach High School class of 2014!

The 13th Year Promise Scholarship program is primarily designed to increase access to higher education for underrepresented students as well as to expose students to the college environment while still in high school. The powerful combination of tuition assistance and support services has resulted in an impressive retention rate for the program.

We're excited about our progress with the 13th Year Promise Scholarship thus far—and look forward to working more with students and high schools to increase college preparedness of our incoming high school graduates.

The 13th Year Promise Scholarship program would not be possible without the community support and generous donors who have contributed to the program.
