Campus Blood Drive

This quarter's drive will honor Cesar E. Chavez's legacy as an American civic leader devoted to improving the quality of life for the migrant/seasonal farmworker community. The objectives are to increase blood & plasma donor participation within the Hispanic /Latino community, promote civic engagement, and saving lives! SSCC MEChA will be tabling as well.

A blood donation takes less than an hour. You get cookies and juice afterwards, and the satisfaction of helping others!

Remember, Washington State Executive Order # 02-01 allows state employees to take paid leave to donate blood.

We will be releasing 2011 versions of our Rose, Late Harvest Viognier, and Riesling as well as a 2008 Reserve Cabernet Franc.

On June 8th we will be doing an Alumni Tasting from 4 - 6 pm featuring the wineries of our AlumnI.

On June 9th we will have a culinary contest from 3 - 5 pm pitting student teams from the Culinary and Pastry programs against one another to see who can prepare the best dish to go with one of our selected wines.

The Georgetown Campus of South Seattle Community College, in partnership with Cascade Healthcare Services and the American Heart Association, will conduct Heartsaver First Aid/AED with CPR certification and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Emergency Care and Safety Institute Bloodborne Pathogens. This course gives you the skills you need to be prepared for an emergency -- and save a life!

These cards are recognized by Washington State's Department of Labor & Industries (WAC 296-800-150) and meets OSHA (1910.151) and ECC 2000 Guidelines. The American Heart Association standards of Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED certification card and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Emergency Care and Safety Institute Bloodborne Pathogens card are good for two years.
